29th April 2016- Avenir de l'espoir Event

On Behalf of The Shire Society Events Committee we would like to thank everyone who attended 2016 Avenir de l'espoir (future of hope) Charity Dinner for the Sydney Children's Hospital foundation.

The evening was a great success with support of everyone in the room with our end result an amazing $206,000 which will buy two state of the art lighting systems with cameras for two operating theatres plus, two x high definition paediatric gastroscopes as well as camera and monitor for delicate ear operations.

Dr Guy Henry, Paediatric Surgeon explained, “the heart of a newborn baby is the size of a 20 cent piece, so it's critical our surgeons have superior lighting when operating on such small and

delicate organs. The state-of-the-art lighting system will also help train and educate the next generation of paediatric surgeons about complex operations for babies and children.”

With help of everyone in the room we had 426 guests attending. Our special guests Manu from My Kitchen Rules was made very welcomed by all, I hope everyone got their selfie.

We also had Carl Reisley and his five piece band entertained us which saw many of you up and dancing to make a magical event.

Our fabulous MC's for the evening were Natarsha Belling from Chanel 10 and Ben Fordham from 2GB who entertained us all with their cheeky banter.
Exciting news for Mandy Neale from Probuild winning the Volkswagen Golf and Tony Nikitaras winning the Jayco Swift touring Camper.

Our evening would not have been as successful without the loyal Event sponsors, product sponsors and all attendees.

Probuild Construction, Sutherland Volkswagen, Forming Circles Global, Sydney Renderers & Painting, Sydney Jayco & Versatile, we would like to thank you and we look forward to your partnership for 2017.

We would also like to mention all our Product prizes were 100% donated and we thank our wonderful product sponsors sincerely for their support. Especially our Diamond product sponsors- Whitesmiths, Hilton Global, LEVENDI & Tasting Venue.

Photographs of  the evening will be available for viewing on May 8th at http://sophieb.com.au/#/page/home/

1st January 2016 - Advanced state-of-the-art lighting system to be purchased with funds raised at the 2016 Avenir de l’espoir (Future of Hope) dinner

The Shire Society Events is aiming to raise $200,000 from the Avenir de l’espoir (Future of Hope) dinner on Friday 29 April 2016.  The money raised will purchase an advanced lighting system, with in built cameras, urgently required for two operating theatres. The heart of a newborn baby is the size of a 20 cent piece, so it's critical surgeons have superior lighting when operating on such small and delicate organs.  The Department of General Surgery at Randwick operates on over 530 sick or injured children each month.  The new state-of-the-art system improves lighting by giving the surgery team a compact, lighter system that is easy to manoeuvre for the best possible angle, and reduces shadows that exist with the current system.  Infection control is improved as the panel is easy-to-clean and sterilise, and ongoings costs are reduced as the lighting is twice as efficient as the current light source.  The new lighting system will help train and educate the next generation of paediatric surgeons about complex operations for babies and children.

October 29th 2014 - 'Champion for Children'

This evening my father Rodney and myself from The Shire Society Events were invited to attend 'Champions for Children' at Taronga Zoo in the Harbour view ballroom.

What a spectacular venue to celebrate and induct into the hall of champions the amazing associations that have raised over 1 million dollars for Sydney Children's hospital foundation to
date.
During the evening we got to meet some of the spectacular wildlife with the zoo keepers, I even held a shingle back lizard which was an experience in its self.  I have to say I feel very privileged and honoured to have been invited to 'Champions for Children' and to have met these amazing people which have given me the extra drive and inspiration to meet that target of 1 million dollars so we also can be inducted to hall of Champions.  Even if only our efforts effect one child of the 78,000 children that pass through the hospital each year receives the gift of hope.

We are definitely on the right track to achieving our goal as we have made the 'Together we make a difference Annual report magazine for 2014. We even received our own award.

Everyday families experience a roller-coaster ride of emotions:
Laughter, Sadness, Determination, Uncertainty, Pain, Dedication
But everyday there is HOPE
Thank you for the gift of HOPE

Regards,

Katie Potocki
